Now I'm not a big fan of audience recordings, and I surely dont understand the folks who prefer AUDs to SBDs, but I do enjoy this show from 7/1/73 from time to time. The China/Rider segue is particularly cool, as is the Playin' and fierce second set jam...

But since you are getting downloading down, why not get some fine SBD files from Speeding Arrow?

I second Cliff's nomination of 7-1-73.

Here's a couple of others I recommend from the years you requested. Unfortunately even with the clarity of the wall of sound, those aren't the best years for aud's imo.

Here's one that I WISH was here and I think would answer Cliff's question on when an AUD is better than a SBD

9-28-75. I purposely sought out the AUD and still think it's better than the sbd

Cliff,

I generally do not prefer and aud to a soundboard however a really great aud can offer more of the experience than a board. The motb releases of auds are amazing and they are showing up here:

We grokked one from 1-17-79 the other night that was unbelievable

this is by far the worst group of years to focus on if you are in the market for downloadable auds from this site.

click the link above for downloadable shows. sort by date, got to the last page.... you will see there is only a handful available from 74.... and of course, what? were there 4 gigs in 75?... the summer and fall of 76 is fairly well documented but... that;s it

if you want choice in auds, you have to head to the early 80s, where there is an overwhelming amount of (often underwhelming) stuff to choose from.

try this: list of newer auds here

My personal fave AUD from the period is this gem:

Quality is astounding for the time period and the show is fantastic. The Birdsong is among the best you're gonna hear (and check out Bobby's work...stunning) as well as one of those monster Playin's. Must have in my book.

Thanks for the insight folks. That is why I asked. As I said I am new to downloading. The reason I asked about auds is because that is all I know how to download from this site. I'm sure others that are smarter than me have learned a work around for the SBDs. I usually would prefer a SBD over an AUD, but sometimes I just like the crowd vibe that an aud provides.
Thanks for the tip about speeding arrow. I had know idea of it's existence. I will also check out the aud recommendations that have been given.

6/23 and 6/24/74 both circulate in excellent (for the era) audience recordings done by Jerry Moore.

6/17/75 isn't quite as good, but it's worth having. Also have to offer a second vote for the 7/1/73 show Cliff mentions above.

I'lll probably catch flack for this because '76 gets no respect around here but the Menke AUDS of the Orpheum run in July are pretty damn good. These shows are among the best of the entire year and the SDBs are great but the AUDs capture the energy much better, IM not-so-H O.
